We run the gondolas on Lake San Marcos, and date nights are the rides we see most. Every boat is private, so there is no tour group and no one else at the next seat. It is a romantic date on a boat that leaves the phones in your pocket and gives you 50 minutes to talk.

Not sure where to start? Here is how couples usually plan it.

• First date or a low-key afternoon: Lucky Hour or the Venetian Gondola Experience. Pair it with lunch next door.
• The classic romantic date: the Sunset Cruise. Sunset slots fill first, especially on weekends, so book early.
• Something quieter: the Enchanted Evening, an after-dark ride under the stars.
• A late surprise for two adults: After Hours, from 10 PM to midnight.

Whichever you choose, your gondolier rows the boat while the two of you relax, share a bottle and talk. There is nothing to plan once you step on board.

What’s Included and What to Bring

Romantic music and blankets are on board for every ride. The rest is up to you.

• Bring your own wine, champagne or food. There is no corkage fee, and we have openers on board.
• Bring your own cups and ice. We don’t provide glasses or ice, and we don’t provide food. Bottled water is available to buy on board.
• Dress for the water. Evenings on the lake can be cool, and the blankets help.
• Kids 4 and under ride free, if the date turns into a family outing.
• Bring the dog. Pets are welcome aboard as long as they stay in the boat. If one jumps in, there is a $200 cleaning fee.

Add-ons for a date night

Choose these at checkout: a message in a bottle with your own note, an Italian gondola necklace, a rose bouquet, or rose petals with a long-stem rose. The message in a bottle is our favorite. Write the note ahead of time, and it becomes the surprise of the ride.

Dinner Before or After Your Ride

Two neighbors make this an easy night out without driving between stops.

• Amalfi Cucina Italiana is an Italian restaurant right next to the dock. Reserve a table for before or after your cruise.
• The Lakehouse Resort is steps from the dock, so a ride and dinner can turn into an overnight stay.

How It Works

1. Book. Pick a ride and a departure time on our booking page. Rides are by reservation only, with no walk-ups, and depart on the hour.
2. Arrive. Meet us at the dock at 1035 La Bonita Dr, San Marcos, CA 92078.
3. Ride. Settle in with the music and a blanket, open your bottle, and glide across Lake San Marcos for 50 minutes.
4. Rain or shine. Rides go out in the rain. If the weather is too bad, our team will reach out to you.
